Baroness Grey-Thompson and Wheelchair Leadership Alliance to fight for change in nationwide wheelchair services

  • The RIGHT CHAIR RIGHT TIME RIGHT NOW campaign aims to raise awareness of the vast differences in quality of wheelchair services across the country
  • The Wheelchair Charter encourages MPs, CCGs, the general public and others to pledge their support to the campaign and to take positive action to help bring about improvements

The 10 point charter lists criteria that wheelchair services should strive to fulfil in order to provide great care

Paralympian launches national Wheelchair Leadership Alliance to ensure wheelchair users get the right chair at the right time

At 11:00am on Thursday 3rd of September 2015, members of the Wheelchair Leadership Alliance will be taking to the INNOVATE STAGE at the Health and Care EXPO at Manchester Central

Lead by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson five other members of the Alliance; Jean Waters, Fiona Carey, Kevan Baker, Krys Jarvis and Nick Goldup, will be discussing why the new Wheelchair Charter is an important innovation for Wheelchair users, providers, commissioners and NHS England.

After two decades and despite numerous reviews wheelchair services remain very much a Cinderella service with significant variation in peoples experiences of care from great to shockingly poor. This panel session will share how the national Wheelchair Leadership Alliance is helping to address this through a national call to action RIGHT CHAIR RIGHT TIME RIGHT NOW

Bradford Wheelchair Services are holding an open day on 24th July 2015 between 10:00 and 14:00

The event will be held at Unit 1, Four Lane Business Park, Cemetery Rd, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD8 9RY

It is open to anyone who wants to learn about how Bradford wheelchair services works.  There will also be a representative from the Wheelchair Leadership Alliance who will be more than happy to discuss the Charter with anyone who wants to come along. 

 

 

On Monday 20th July the Wheelchair Leadership Alliance will be launching the wheelchair charter in the State Rooms of the Speakers House in the Palace of Westminster. This is the culmination of a great deal of work and effort by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Members of the Alliance and others.

The Event which will take place between 12:00 and 13:30 will end with the formal launch for the new Wheelchair Leadership Alliance Charter.
