Department of Health NHS Mandate Consultation
Following the successful reach and impact of the wheelchair charter, the Alliance feels that the best way to ensure implementation of its principles to effect equality of access, provision and standards across the NHS wheelchair services throughout all CCGs in England, is to get wheelchair service improvement mentioned specifically in the NHS Mandate.
A consultation on the Government's mandate to NHS England to 2020 has gone live and the Wheelchair Leadership Alliance are asking everyone who has supported the Right Chair, Right Time, Right Now campaign to respond to it.
This is a perfect opportunity to ensure change happens and to for this to happen we must make our voice as loud as we can. This can only be achieved if we ALL respond. PLEASE HELP US TO ACHIEVE IT. We need YOU!
The view of the Wheelchair Leadership Alliance
With the evidence that the Wheelchair Alliance has been able to develop from:
- The 2 national wheelchair Summits in February 2014 and November 2014
- The wheelchair summit service improvement workstreams
- NHS England’s wheelchair services tariff, data set and commissioning resources workstreams
- The NHS Improving Quality Wheelchair Services e-Digest
- The Wheelchair Charter development and launch
- The Right Chair Right Time Right Now Campaign
It is clear that change is needed and is now being demanded.
Many of you may wish to offer your own response to the questions, but if you want to use the one the Alliance have already written, either in entirety or in part, then we have put it here on the website for you to use as you wish.
However, you use it, be assured that your voice has the potential to change the lives of people of all ages who need to use wheelchairs in the UK .This is your moment to make a difference and please do use it. This is an opportunity we mustn’t miss.
